Training is great once you start
I have just recently completed a City and Guilds training course in counselling and just thought I would share my experience with anyone who is in the same boat as I was. Just over a year ago, I was completely miserable in my job, unmotivated, uninspired, but more importantly, just trapped doing something that wasn’t for me. And as you get older, you kind of think it’s too late to go back and change your life, start over, do something that actually inspires you. I’m basically writing this blog to dispel this notion to anyone who feels the same way now that I did then. It’s completely untrue! It’s never too late to change your life. And guess what did it for me? A city and guilds training course.
To tell the truth, a change in my life and career has long been overdue and I think I was scared of going into adult education. It’s a big commitment with no real promise of a secure outcome. This very real fear turned out to be actual nonsense, as I realised it made absolutely no sense being in a job I despised purely because I was scared of changing my life.
Doing a City and Guilds training course just opened my eyes to how much there was out there for me to devote myself to. Obviously, being trained by industry professionals means you’re already one step closer to achieving your goal. I would honestly recommend it to anyone in a similar position – just see if City and Guilds offer a course in a subject that you’re interested in and go for it! You will leave with more confidence, knowledge and a qualification that actually means something in the professional work world – definitely worth it.
